National Science Review Publishes ECUST Major Research Online

Based on theoretical analysis, and combined with frozen transmission electron microscope synchrotron radiation and other technologies, Professor Fang Haiping and his colleagues of the School of Science, ECUST, have directly observed the two-dimensional CaCl crystals formed in the natural environment on the reduced graphene oxide (rGO) film. Experiments show that these two-dimensional CaCl crystals are ferromagnetic, metallic and piezoelectricity-like at room temperature, can form graphene -CaCl heterojunction, and have remarkable hydrogen storage and release capacity. The article entitled “2d CaCl crystals with metal, room-temperature ferromagnetism, heterojunction, piezoelectric-like property, and univalent calcium ion”, was published online in the National Science Review.

Professor Fang Haiping of ECUST completed this work jointly with relevant teams from Xi 'an Jiaotong University, Shanghai University, Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics of China Academy of Science, Zhejiang A&F University, East China Normal University and Xiamen University. This work has been financially supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Academy of Sciences, the basic scientific research business fees of central universities, and the supercomputing centers in Shanghai and Guangdong.
