National Science Review reports the new progress of near infrared pure organic room temperature phosphorescence research in our university

Recently, Academician Tian He and the research team of Professor Ma Xiang from the Joint Research Center of Feringa Nobel Prize Scientists, ECUST, successfully constructed a series of pure organic films with high quantum efficiency near infrared phosphorescence emission at room temperature by introducing bromophenolsulfonphthalein molecules with red fluorescence emission into rigid matrix polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). At the same time, based on the acid-base responsiveness of phenolsulfonphthalein molecules, the first semi-subtractor logic gate based on RTP was constructed. The research article was recently published in National Science Review under the title of “Red-Light Excited Efficient Metal-Free Near-Infrared Room-Temperature Phosphorus Scene Films”.

The article is first-authored by doctoral candidate Sun Siyu and corresponding-authored by Professor Ma Xiang. The research work also received  careful guidance from Academician Tian He and was financially supported by the Basic Science Center Project of NSFC, Shanghai Key International Cooperation Projects and Outstanding Leading Academics.
