Science Progress Publishes ECUST Latest Progress in Cell Death Evolutionary Origin

Recently, the research group of Professor Liu Qin from the School of Bioengineering and the State Key Laboratory of Bioreactor Engineering of our university has made important progress in the evolutionary origin of cell scorch. It is the first time to analyze the ancestral cell scorch signaling pathway in the animal kingdom in model animal Hydra and reveal its conservative anti-infection function. The related research article was published online in Science Progress with the title of “Caspase-mediated LPS Sensing and Pyroposis Signaling in Hydra”.

The article is first authored by Chen Shouwen, a postdoctoral fellow in the School of Bioengineering, and corresponding authored by Professor Liu Qin. The research work has received support from Professor Zhang Yuan Xing and Professor Yang Dahai from the School of Bioengineering, and has been financially supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, China Postdoctoral Fund and Shanghai Opmai Biotechnology Co., Ltd.
